The Fishpond Delta Sling Pack is one of the most innovative sling pack we have seen.
The Fishpond Delta Sling Pack has two large zippered main pockets and a magnetic front pocket to store all kinds of fly fishing necessities. It even has a Velcro pistol holster holder in case you are fishing in grizzly country.
The external pocket zipper is a water resistant YKK #8 Aquaguard. The back panel is structured and mesh lined to keep you cool and help distribute the load comfortably.
A landing net slot holds your net, so it can be easily accessed when needed.
And, to top it off, the Delta Sling Pack is made from abandoned and recovered fishing nets called Cyclepond. That helps our oceans and the animals and fish that live there.
The Fishpond Delta Sling Pack is one new fabulous piece of gear. Introdeced last yar, it has been very popular and has sold well.
The color is Cutthroat Green which matches many products in the Fishpond lineup of fly fishing gear.
Fishpond’s Buckhorn Sling Pack is fairly new to the sling pack collection, and it has been a big hit.
You can keep your Buckhorn behind you until needed, like most sling packs. Then move it easily to your chest for easy access. It features plenty of padding for comfort and an air mesh fabric that helps keep you cool.
The Buckhorn has features you have probably never seen before. One that is notable, is the Velcro attachment material on the front of Fishpond’s signature zip down fly bench. Inside the compartment is foam for fly storage, but it can be moved to the outside temporarily or left there to dry flies.
Here is something new to sling packs, a landing net handle slot to hold your net. Pretty clever huh!
The Fishpond Buckhorn features 7 zippered pockets. Two are located on the harness for efficient storage of small items.
The dimensions are 13” x 7” x 6”. Color is Gravel.
Now this is one fine sling pack, like no other we have seen. It is called a guide pack because of it’s size. The El Nino holds a lot of fly fishing gear.
The El Nino looks similar to the Buckhorn Sling Pack above. This one however is part of Fishpond’s Westwater Series, which means it is water resistant and waterproof.
The El-Nino, like other pieces in the Fishpond Westwater series, has a base layer made from Cyclepond, which is nylon made from abandoned fishing nets found in the ocean. That material is coated with thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU). The seams are welded, like whitewater rafts. The only way water can enter a bag made this way is thorough the zippers.
In this case, the main compartment is held closed by a TZIP submersible zipper. These zippers are used for expensive waders that have zippers. You can actually submerge this sling pack and it won’t leak in that compartment.
As you would expect from a top of the line fly fishing pack, the El Nino features lots of padding and mesh lining to keep you cool and comfortable.
The El Nino has a handy work station on the shoulder strap with Velcro and other points to attach tools. When you sling this pack from back to front, the tools are right there in front of you.
The integrated net slot is another feature, found only on recently designed sling packs.
Take a close look at the features and workmanship. Think about your gear and the problems caused when it gets wet.
The dimensions are 15” x 9” x 5.5”.
The Fishpond Summit Sling Pack is another recent addition to this category. This sling pack, loaded with features, at a very reasonable price.
Check out the smooth lines, the shape of the pack and look at the landing net slot. So far, so good. There are many great features to examine. Look at the price.
The Fishond Summit Sling Pack was designed to suit a backcountry fly fisherman. It’s slender profile speaks to the angler who sneaks through the forest. The colors are muted, so as not to spook wild trout. The padding and breathable mesh, keep a hiking angler cool on a hot summer day. Your landing net will stay close to you, within reach, but not snagging on limbs and brush.
Sling the pack from the rear to your chest, and you’ve got plenty of room available for all of your gear. The fly cargo bench is right in front of you. Access to the main compartment is designed to be used from a slanted position, making it easy to get the big stuff you need out quickly.
Attachment points for fly fishing tools abound. You can attach them just about anywhere on this sling pack.
Even your water bottle is within a short reach for a quick sip.
This pack is also perfect for wading saltwater anglers, and any other type of wade fishing, in tailwaters or freestone streams.
The Fishpond Summit Sling Pack’s dimensions are 13” x 8.5” x 9”. It is available in two colors, Tortuga and Gravel.
When this sling pack was first shown in the Summer of 2015, I could not wait to see it. I use water resistant sling packs as boat, kayak and canoe bags. I use one for a camera bag, to store a DSLR camera on fishing excursions. I knew right away, this would be my favorite new product when it was made available to you.
Introducing the Fishpond Thunderhead Sling Pack. I’ve got to have one even though I don’t really need another.
The Thunderhead is waterproof and submersible. The main compartment is secured with the TIZIP zipper, which is waterproof, even when held under water. That is important to me because much of my fishing is done in the ocean. I don’t want saltwater, or any water in with my gear, especially that expensive camera and lens.
Like all Fishpond Westerwater designed packs, this one uses recycled nylon fishing nets recovered from the ocean as the base layer. That material is covered inside and out with thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) for total waterproof protection. The seams are welded, just like those found on whitewater rafts. And with that waterproof zipper on the main compartment, drenched or even damp gear is not a concern.
The smaller front pocket is zipped with a YKK Aquaguard, to shed rain and splashed water.
The Fishpond Thunderhead works like all their other sling packs. Keep it on your back when hiking or fishing, then sling it around to the front when you need something. There are many attachment points for tools. The tools and water bottle holder shown in the photos are optional and not included.
Fishpond is not giving this pack away, not even to me, after all the nice things I've written about them. They are not cheap. But, you can be sure your valuable gear will stay dry in this sling pack.
Other notable features include padded mesh to keep you cool and comfortable and a landing net sleeve for quick access when somebody yells, “Get the net”.
Dimensions are 16” x 9” x 6.5”.
I need another waterproof sling pack like I need a hole in my head but I will have one of these.
The Fishpond Lodgepole Satchel is reminiscent of a fly fisherman you would see in the 19th century. This is an authentic piece of gear for fly fishing enthusiasts, who prefer a more traditional look while on the stream.
The Lodgepole Satchel is a sling pack, though modeled after a very early design. Held in place by a neck strap, you can move it from front to back easily. A waist strap holds the satchel next to your body no matter what position it is in.
The Lodgepole is made from 16 oz. waxed cotton. The satchel looks so good, even if you don’t use it for fishing, it could be proudly displayed in your fishing room or used as a messenger bag.
